How to Wear: Stripes

Ladies, stripes are all year round fashion, they key is to wear the kind of stripes that flatter! Here is a key to how to wearing stripes based on your body’s shape:

Apple: Vertical stripes are your friend! They elongate your shape and darker stripes with contrasting colors adds more depth to your body. If you want a less heavy look wear thin stripes instead.

Hourglass: You can do no wrong when it comes to stripes! Just ensure your stripes are going in the same direction for a clean look.

Botticelli: Wear diagonal stripes in order to flatter your hourglass figure. And if you really want to accentuate a certain area where you love your curves do so by wearing horizontal stripes around that area.

Pear: Focus creating stripes on the upper body! With thick stripes on top your shoulders will appear broader and thinner. And to make your hips and butt look slimmer wear vertical stripes on the bottom.

Petite: Where horizontal stripes give you a flat look, vertical stripes give you height even without heels.

Slender: To give yourself an hourglass figure go for thick horizontal stripes in the the places you want to look curvy. Possibly wear a horizontal stripe shirt and use a thick belt. Use a combo of different kinds of stripes for instant curviness!

BB Cream 101

Beauty balm, or BB cream as many people know it, may be the perfect solution for summer makeup and skin care. When it is humid, sticky, and ninety degrees, the last thing most women feel like doing is applying a full face of makeup.  BB creams may be the perfect alternative to full coverage foundation. It acts as a primer, provides moderate coverage, and most importantly has SPF in the formulation. It is also simple to apply and low maintenance.

The biggest issue I’ve had with using BB creams is finding the correct brand and color. I tried a few on my own and wasn’t extremely satisfied with the results, so I figured it was time to have a professional help me find a shade that worked well for my skin. I went to Sephora, and had them read my skin with a new device they have (I highly recommend this). It takes pictures of your skin and gives an extremely accurate description and recommendation of products for your skin. From there it’s just deciding which brand you want. Most BB creams have sunscreen and moisturizer built in, but they are all slightly different in formulation. This means you might have to test a few to see which one works best for you. The great thing is that they work for all skin types!

After you’ve found the perfect BB cream for you, the rest is a piece of cake. Just use a foundation brush or your fingers and apply a small amount to cover your face. You can add more or less depending on the amount of coverage you want. It can also be used as a primer to the rest of your makeup if you want a full coverage look. Presto! Now you can go conquer the summer one BB cream at a time.

How to Wear White on White

1)      Matching Pieces- If coming up with your own all white outfit seems a bit daunting, a safe route to take is investing in a matching set. These will most commonly be a blazer and pants combination, but will look great with a skirt and blazer as well. Try making it casual with a pair of white jeans and a classic white v-neck tee or a pair of jean shorts!

2)    Jewelry- Jewelry is a staple in completing your white-on-white ensemble. By pairing a great gold necklace, with a gold watch and bracelets, you can take your outfit to the next level by creating a classy simplistic look and showing off your favorite jewels and accessories. Don’t be afraid to add a colorful bag or pair of shoes to really make your outfit pop!

3)   Texture- To keep your all white outfit from being too plain, you can build up your outfit with a textured top, or a pleated skirt. In the winter, pull off this look by adding a chunky sweater with your white jeans.

4)    Confidence- If anything pulls an outfit together it’s confidence. By taking inspiration from your favorite celebrities, blog sites and look books you can use them as a guide to pulling off your summer chic all white outfit.  Have fun and don’t worry about experimenting with different looks!
